Bobo masks as they are seen by preschool "moyenne-section"

During the preparation of the carnival, the "moyenne section" students did a good job in approaching the aesthetic of the Bobo Masks.

They observed real masks in the classroom and at the sculptors'.

They noticed the geometric shapes and the colors used. Just black, white, and red/brown.

After a first test on small size papers, their teachers provided them with simple cardboard in square, rectangle, oval, or "butterfly" shapes.

On these shapes, they added a lot of horns and ears.

Then, they painted those so expressive faces.

Finaly, with crêpe paper strips, they gave an idea of the fiber costume wich always complete those masks.

To end this masks exhibition, here is now a slide show on a piece of tianhoun music by Lasna Konaté.

Translated by the 5th grade (CM2) students, and the 9th grade (3e) students under the supervision of Mrs Sawadogo. Secondary school.
